Time Flys...

When you're having fun, eh? Not much to report on. Just the usual...work & school. One fun thing to report is I got a new laptop. I'm spending today configuring it and loading music and pictures on it. It's a Sony Vaio. I got tired of the firewall on my work laptop blocking everyplace I wanted to go.

Easter weekend was ok. Friday night was a lazy night, Dave and I stayed in. On Saturday, our friend, Stace, was in a play at Schoolcraft College. We went to be supportive, but we had no idea she only had one line and the play was 2.5 hours long. We had a good laugh about it. The dinner before the play was really good. Afterwards, Sarah and I went to The Post in Dearborn. We met Dave, Sandra, Joel, Beckii, Jacque and a couple other people there. It was fun. And Sunday, of course, was a family day.

Well, I now have to do some homework and studay for my test that's tonight.

Another One Bites the Dust

Well, today is my last day of class for this semester. I'm very excited that my horrendous Workplace Communication class if OVER! I will never again have to learn how to write a professional e-mail - Yip! After tonight, I'll have two and a half weeks off - Spring semester starts on April 2. I think I might load up next semester, but not 100% sure yet.

This weekend is St. Patty's Day. I'm bummed to say that i will not partake in the drinking festivities :( My mom planned a family outing and I feel obligated to go since she rescheduled the date just for me. Although, I've come to realize that I really can't drink anymore because I'm prone to getting sick - so it's probably best I won't be drinking for 24 hours straight :)

Next weekend I'll be headed to Memphis. This is my yearly trip with my mom. I always dread 4 full days with just me and my mom, but it always turns out ok. I just hope we keep ourselves busy so the days go by fast. Does anybody want Graceland souvenirs?? Ha ha.

Well, that's about it for now. Have a happy and safe weekend!

Happy Friday

I'm so glad this week is over. Not that it was a bad week, just that it was a boring one.

I'm super excited for tomorrow. It's finally here...the Justin Timberlake concert. YAY! I can't wait to stare at his hotness :)

Anyway, I think it's really weird when I start to think back to things that I've done or didn't do. I was in class the other day and we were talking about what we had to take vs. what credits we had that transferred. And I realized that it has been 12 years since I've taken a math class. That just sounds so crazy to me! I graduated high school 13 years ago and I've been driving for 15 years. The numbers just seem funny to me now. I don't feel old at all, but when I talk about the past I forget how long ago it really was. Hmm.

Lovely Sunday

I am at Anna's new place right now. She has a really nice house in Holly. Yesterday, we helped her unpack and decorate - although she still has a lot to do. We started drinking around 6:00 and ended up drunk by 10. We played the Sex and the City trivia game while we watched SATC. It was a fun evening with the girls.

This morning we were all up early because we had passed out by 11:00. I went online and ordered a new pair of tennis shoes. Right now, we are munching on food we didn't finish last night (chips, cheese and crackers, and spinach dip). The puppies are running around...well, Duke and Izzy are running around and Louie has found his favorite spot...in front of the fireplace. Shortly, I will take a shower then head to PF Changs to have lunch with Trina. I'm looking forward to the Crispy Honey Shrimp. That will be a lot better than the Big Boy's I'm going to have for (family) dinner.

I'm excited that I only have two more weeks of class. I'll only have a two-week break before next semeter, but it will be nice. Next semester I'm taking an intro course for my Surg Tech program. Also, Microbiology and Algebra. I'm going to attempt to take the online Algebra course, which could prove to be a bad idea. But, I'll just have to wait and see.

Work is going well. I had a really good review with my managers. I might have already blogged about it, but can't rememeber. Anyway, I told them that I was interested in studying something other than business and they said I should do what's best for me. They will be supportive of my decision. I was a little worried they might not, but I know they are really nice people and good managers, so I wasn't surprised when they encouraged me.

Well, I should get ready for the day. Bring on the PF Changs! :)

Worry Wart

Ok, so I get a message today that someone has bad news for me but says they're not going to tell me until they see me (which is 9 hours away). So, I'm sitting here going over in my head all the possible things it could be. Trying to think of things that might seem bad but really aren't - but I'm not having any luck. I'm sitting here thinking the worst because that is my nature. I'm not a positive/optimistic person. I can root others on and tell them over and over to think positive, but when it comes to my own siutations - the worst is the only thing I think about. Maybe it is a good thing, because then I build it up to be so horrible and when I find out the truth, it's not so bad. But that's not good for the 9 hours I sit here angry and miserable, giving myself a headache, feeling sick and not eating...

I hope everyone has a beautiful day - for me, the worst is yet to come.

Naked Potter?

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/20070227/117261096000.html

I hate it when people get all bent out of shape when actors take on different roles. Isn't that what actors are supposed to do? I wouldn't expect D.R. to be Harry Potter and only Harry Potter in his career. I say kudos to him for branching out. (well, that and he actually looks pretty hot with his shirt off) :-P

GA

Note from Jess:
What the heck was up with Grey's last night? I was totally convinced she was going to die.
I also felt kinda bad for Addison, watching her watch Derek crying over Meredith....that would be so hard.

My thoughts:
I knew she wouldn't die because it "Grey's Anatomy"...can't kill the main character. But, I did hear the spoiler so I knew her mom was going to die. I think they did the episode pretty well, but in real life she'd be DEAD (or at least brain dead). Plus, if it were any normal person off the street they would have given up and just pronounced the person dead on arrival! But, it's TV so have to keep that in mind and not take it so seriously :)

Howdie

Well, I really don't have anything to update. I'm still working and still going to school. Just thought I'd let you know you're not missing out on anything.

Have a nice day.

It's F-ing Cold!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous now. I don't think I can take much more of this. I thought we were having global warming issues? Or does global warming make the winter unbearable? I'm confused.

Anyway, things have been hum-drum lately. Just work and school. Work has been kind of busy. I'm supporting three managers now and the newest manager has a new org and there is a lot of training involved and a lot of questions everyday. Luckily, the new people are all very nice and just happy that I'm helping, but it can make for a chaotic day every now and then. School is going well even though I absolutely HATE my Tuesday class. Last week we spent an hour going over how to create a meeting agenda and how to write an email (this was the second time we got a lecture on how to write an email). Yesterday, we got to work in groups so it wasn't too bad, except for the one lady who was mad at the teacher and kept interrupting to complain about something. So, that made the teacher mad and we got a lecture on prefessionalism and how to know what type of forum is appropriate for expressing certain opinions. It was horrible. Next week my draft resume is due. Yep, I have to create resume (which I already have) but I also have to do a reference page, cover letter, thank you letter and electronic job hunting research. AHHHHHHH!

As for El Dave - things are going well. I had a slight girl moment yesterday, but all is good. He has been offered a new job, so his midnight shift is over. He will be working 3-11 now which will allow for a normal weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing him more than one night a week. I think the limited time was good for the beginning and now we can progress to two or three days. I am happy.

Some couple other random things that happened recently:

-- I took Jeffrey to MSU for a basketball game. We had a lot of fun, even though MSU lost the game. It was a real nail biter. Jeffrey was really good the whole time. I know now that it is Jeff & Michelle that make him act out. He's a good kid who has a father that treats him bad. Hopefully, Jeffrey will realize his only way out is get good grades, go to college and make something of himself...despite his father.

-- The Colts won the Super Bowl. YAY! I thought the commercials were lacking compared to previous years. I was at El Dave's; he had some people over. I made the delicious dip. Mmmmm.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Movies on Friday, hockey game on Saturday. Then the weekend after that is the SLUMBER PARTY. I'm totally looking forward to it :-)

Well, ta-ta for now.

Frustrated

I'm just venting. I called my college to find out what I need to do to test out of the stupid computer classes and was given a response that angered me. Back in November I was told my next opportunity to take these test would be in February and to call back when the semester began. So, I call today and the stupid girl says the cut-off date was January 13th. Bitch. Nobody told me that. She then went on to say "it was in the bulletin" - what fucking bulletin??? I didn't get any bulletin in the mail or anything... And she said "it was posted all over the building" - well, I take classes at a different campus so I wouldn't see those, would I? I'm mad at my advisor, I'm mad at the stupid girl and I'm mad at my school. Now I have to wait until next semester. And of course, the dates haven't been determined for that yet. So I'll probably call on the first day of next semester and they'll say "sorry, the cut off date was yesterday" - bastards. Why does everything have to be so fucking stupid?

Anyway, back to work and the annoyingness that is position request templates.

Tiki Denied

Well, it was a pretty uneventful week. Classes started Tuesday. I'm going to hate Tuesdays. It is my Workplace Communications class. The teacher made a point to tell us we will never get out early. And of course, it's the most boring class ever! On the first day we discussed how to create and write a professional email. Over the next 9 weeks we will run our own business (we have to think of a product we want to make then create the business around that - I'm not very excited about this). Also, we will create a resume (even though I already have one) and cover letter and learn how to write thank you notes - BLAH BLAH BLAH. Doesn't it just sound horrendous? I'm sure when I turn in my resume that I've been using for the last 6 years I will get a bad grade and she'll tell me it's not done well. Bitch.

Anyway, I have Anatomy & Physiology on Wednesdays (lecture) and Fridays (lab). I like the class so I don't mind going to this one. It's fun learning about blood and stuff and dissecting parts. I was supposed to have Algebra on Thursdays, but I decided it was too much so I dropped it until next semester.

On Friday I had a Tiki Bob party. Nobody went because I didn't tell anybody. I didn't think you'd mind not knowing. Sarah and I went to the movies and saw Alpha Dog. I'm sure I liked it because of my undying love for Justin, but Sarah liked it and she doesn't have the hots for him like I do. Saturday was a lazy day. I went to Target with Sarah then came home and fell asleep on the couch. I went to El Dave's around 7:00. We went to dinner then just hung at his place and watched The Terminal. I find it to be a very heartwarming story. What can I say, I'm a softy. Sunday was crappy weather day. I was going to go to MSU for a basketball game but all the freezing rain and forecasted nastiness prevented me from going. I'm annoyed because the weather ended up not being so bad and I should have gone. Bastard weather men! How can they get paid when they are wrong all the time?? They should get paid per accurate forecast. Bastards. So, instead I did homework and went to dinner with Beckie, Austin and Mike. I split the Red Robin Burger (aka, the heart attack on a plate) with Beckie. The burger had cheese, bacon, a fried egg and mayo on it. Fat, fat, fat and lard. Yum, it was tasty (or is it tastey...I mean, that's how Fergie spells it, so that must be the right way...)

There you have it.

Quiz Correction

Well, apparently I was being tricky...maybe.

The question about the number of piercings I have shows the correct answer as 2 - but as Sarah pointed out, one could technically say 3 because I have 3 holes in my ears. I said 2 because I was thinking - only my ears are pierced and I have 2 ears. I guess this could go either way.

Now aren't you glad I only listed 10 questions - I obviously can't answer them myself!! :)

Anyway, the weekend was nice. Saturday was El Dave night. I made dinner and we watched some TV then headed to Waves. I know what you're thinking...WAVES??? But, we really just wanted to get out of the house, and there aren't a lot of places to choose from in the area. I was just glad that GMD, aka the Village Idiot, wasn't there. Guess I got lucky that time! Phew.

School starts tomorrow. Ugh.

Happy 2007

Well, it's back to reality. I'm back at work today and school starts next week. I really enjoyed the time I had off. I got to spend time with a lot of family and a lot of friends. I did a heck of a lot of driving though! I drove to Plymouth a couple times to visit with Anna, I met a friend for lunch in Novi, drove downriver to parents' house, drove downriver to the bar, drove downriver for the NYE party - and these were all on separate days. My poor little car has over 2,000 miles on it and it haven't even had it a full month yet (it will be one month on Friday).

Anyway, I ended up getting sick on NYE (after midnight)...so I missed out on hanging with a bunch of people until wee hours in the morning. **Mental note: never drink chocolate martinis and apple pucker jell-o shots, they don't mix :) I hope everyone that came to Beckii and Mike's had fun. There was a ton of food and lots to drink and I guess Scattergories was a big hit. Who knew that would be a must-have NYE game??

On New Year's Day, I was a little hung over, but not too ill. We watched The Last Kiss with Zach Braff - we thought it was going to be cute, but it was all about cheating and breaking up and it was depressing. Then Beckii made mac & cheese and pizza which was yummy. Then I went to El Dave's and we were lazy bums - we watched the Rose Bowl and Superman Returns and Psycho II before heading to bed. Yesterday I had taken the day off to have just one extra day. I'm glad I did. I checked my work email (only to prevent from being bombarded today) and went to Target, made a healthy dinner, did laundry and watched TV (even though there was nothing on). And today it's back to normal...

Joy to the new year.
